first estimate of an accident

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Yesterday was an experience! A few days ago, a young lady came into the intersection I was passing through and smacked into the side of my car. We exchanged cordial greetings and insurance information.

Finally, the day came for my appointment with the Damage Estimator. I went to the Fix It Shop and got an estimate for my insurance company. This was fine. The shop looked good, and the people were fantastic. When I walked in the door, I noticed a sign on the wall for the insurance company who insured the little lady that hit me. My thoughts were. "A HA! I can kill 2 birds with one stone, here.

This is where I got an interesting lesson in getting repair estimates. OH YES! Look at my next step. Always be polite and talk with an open mind. You never know what you might get a good laugh.

Then, I called her insurance company and told them where I was, and ask if they wanted me to get an estimate for them. The girls said, "You can't do that. "I said," Why, I have signed in the middle of one of them on their wall. "He said:" No matter, you have one of the ramp take our estimator. So, I made an appointment and took the car to one of their estimator Drive Up. When I arrived, they said, 'Why did not you do the repair estimate? Duh! You know, I wonder the same thing. Anyway, all was good and it worked. I take the car next Tuesday and get a rental car.

Oh Happy Day iscome, the day I pick up a beautiful car from the Repair Shop and can laugh about the day of my estimates.

How to Compare Low Cost Automobile Insurance in Michigan

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you live in the state that is home to Motor City USA, you may already be aware of the fact that automobile insurance is sold in two different ways. Most drivers qualify for individual insurance policies which means they have to do the legwork of finding the lowest priced policy themselves. The other type is group insurance. This type of automobile insurance applies to individuals who have bought into a group policy. Not only does this typically result in lower prices for everyone in the group, but no quote gathering is ever required.

If you aren't fortunate enough to qualify for a group automobile insurance plan through work or a private organization, don't fret. Low cost automobile insurance in Michigan is still within your reach and all that is required of you is to do a bit of comparison shopping.

Gathering insurance quotes isn't much fun. This is especially true for someone who isn't prepared when they begin calling for quotes. You need to have some basic information handy so the agent you are speaking with can prepare the quote quickly. This includes details regarding the type of vehicle or vehicles you want to insure, your personal driving record, along with the driving record of anyone you want to add to the policy, and the level of coverage you are interested in. Having all this information close at hand will make the quote gathering process move along seamlessly.

Once you have the quotes in front of you, don't automatically settle on the lowest priced one. You should also think about the companies themselves and what sort of reputation they have for aiding their clients. Also consider how long they've been in business. You don't want to purchase a policy from a company that has just set up shop in the state. Instead find a company that has a solid background in Michigan and is also offering a good deal.

How to Compare Online Auto Insurance Quotes

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Car insurance is one thing you can't afford to be without. It's not only a legal requirement, but also gives you protection for your automotive investment in case of an accident. Unfortunately, finding car insurance that works for you and fits your budget is not so easy. Perhaps you live in a small town where there are not many choices for auto insurance. Or, maybe the nearest car insurance company is an hour away from your home! Many consumers are choosing more convenient routes today, such as online auto insurance. It's convenient and often more affordable. Use the tips below to compare quotes and find the right company for you.

Finding Online Car Insurance Companies Before you can compare car insurance quotes, you must know where to look for companies. There are two ways to find and compare quotes. One way is to search online with Google, Yahoo, or other search engines to find individual companies using certain keywords. The types of keywords to consider are your state name, type of insurance you'll need, and something to indicate that you want a free quote. For example: Arkansas auto insurance free quote - or - Pennsylvania car insurance quote Using specific keywords helps narrow your search so you can compare only those companies within your state.

Another way to compare various offers is to visit a website portal that offers quotes for different companies. An online auto insurance portal enables you to comparison shop quickly without visiting numerous sites. Find a site that offers quotes from many major insurance chains along with several small independent companies so you can do a proper quote comparison. Look at More than the Quote Consider all aspects of the offer - not merely the price quote. Find out what type of coverage is available at that price. Will the quote cover collision and liability for your automobile? How much coverage is available for accidents in which a person is injured or killed? The lowest car insurance quote may only cover the bare necessities, but may not cover other needs that are important to you. Another thing to consider is the type of premium payment methods available with each company. Some companies require you to mail a check.

Some allow you to pay by automatic direct withdrawal from your checking account or a credit card. Some companies provide online payment methods with a secure login account. Still others might want you to call in your payment with a credit card by phone. Also, consider when your due date will fall. Will you pay at the beginning, middle, or end of the month? Will you pay premiums monthly, quarterly, or yearly? Online Auto Insurance Coverage for Other Vehicles If you need insurance coverage for other vehicles, such as motorcycles and boats, you might benefit if the company offers services for each of these. Some companies will combine your payments or even lower your premium for multiple policies. This makes it easier to keep up with your insurance and might save you money. Paying More for Guaranteed Service An online car insurance company that offers lower quotes might not always be the best candidate.

If you pay $200 less per year, but can't get a claim processed in a prompt manner, it's probably not worth the savings. But if you pay a little more on the premium to a company that has a proven track record of good customer service, this can save you many headaches in the future. It's definitely worth the extra expense. Compare Add-On Services You might also benefit if the online car insurance company offers additional services such as mutual fund programs and other investment opportunities. You will have one company handling your insurance and investments, making it easy to keep track of your records. When looking for auto insurance online, consider all the factors and services included in the car insurance quotes being offered. Don't go for price only, but compare companies and services for what they're worth. You'll be happier and have peace of mind when you actually need to take advantage of your car insurance policy.

Equalities Bill to Reduce Car Insurance Prices For Young Drivers

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The new equalities bill that has been proposed by the government could have a big effect on the car insurance industry and the prices we pay. For years now, young drivers have had to pay over the odds for car insurance and pay over double the amount other drivers with more experience do.

Some argue that this is fair as the statistics do not lie, 17 to 21 year olds account for 16% of motoring convictions with a further 34% responsible for dangerous driving offences. However, some say that all young drivers should not be tarnished with the same brush and be given the chance to earn cheaper car insurance.

Looking for young driver car insurance can be difficult in the current financial climate as young drivers have a small budget and prices are average around £989 with the average the rest of Britain's drivers are paying is £459. This is more than double the average and young drivers are hoping the bill will reduce premiums.

The bill is aimed at reducing the prejudice that some industries have and the car insurance industry is a good example. Whether you believe the price difference is right or wrong, the bill will have a big effect on car insurance premiums and if approved, will reduce the amount young drivers pay on their policies.

If the bill is passed it could mean cheaper insurance for young drivers but could mean other drivers' premiums may rise. Drivers aged between 17 and 21 account for more than a fifth of total premiums and if the industry was to lose a slice of this income they may have to increase other premiums to make up for the loss.

It is unknown whether the bill will be passed but until then young and experienced drivers can shop online and compare the various insurers and their deals with minimal hassle and stress.

How to Compare Low Cost Car Insurance in Maine

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Unlike many states, Maine has a strict law in place when it comes to uninsured motorist coverage. Anyone who drives in Maine must have a minimum amount of this particular type of insurance. This means that you have to purchase $50,000 per person and $100,000 per accident uninsured motorist coverage. You can also purchase more if you feel it's warranted.

For someone looking to compare low cost car insurance in Maine, the simplest way to do this is to contact a number of insurance companies and ask for a free quote. The quotes should all be based on the same level of coverage so it's easier to determine which plan offers the best deal. In addition to the stated uninsured motorist coverage, liability and medical payments coverage all needs to be included. Therefore, determine the amounts of each that you want, along with any other type of coverage and then start collecting quotes.

When you contact insurance agents and ask for a quote be very specific about the type of insurance you are seeking. Collision and comprehensive coverage is often suggested by agents during the quote process, for good reason. If you drive a late model car, you really need a policy that offers protection against all perils. However, if you estimate the value of your car to be under $2,000, you really don't need this type of coverage as the cost of the premium may surpass the total value of your car.

Once you have found a quote that you're comfortable with, you can then set out to purchase the insurance. Bear in mind that you'll save money by paying the premium in a lump sum instead of spacing it out in monthly or bi-monthly payments. Unless you pay the annual premium in full, expect a service fee to be added. This can add up quickly so try and avoid it whenever possible.

How To Compare Low Cost Car Insurance In Indiana

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Without a doubt the best way to find low cost car insurance in Indiana is to compare rates. This means contacting several different insurance companies and asking for a quote for your specific insurance needs. If you are unsure of what exactly you need in terms of car insurance coverage consider that the minimum liability insurance required by law in Indiana isn't always adequate.

The minimum is $25,000 bodily injury coverage per person, per accident as well as $50,000 for all people who may be injured as the result of an accident you caused. In terms of property damage, the limit is only $10,000, which obviously wouldn't be adequate should you cause an accident where a late model vehicle was a write-off.

When you call various insurance companies to compare rates, you'll want to have a good idea of what limits of coverage you are comfortable with. In addition, you want to map out any additional coverage you feel is warranted. The different types of coverage in the state of Indiana are:

oMedical coverage. This provides coverage for the driver as well as anyone else in the car that may be injured after an accident.

oComprehensive. This type of car insurance typically provides coverage for items such as glass, repairs that are the result of a hailstorm, theft or a fire. You'll have to choose a deductible for this coverage. It's always good to settle on a higher deductible, as this will keep your premiums lower.

oCollision. Collision coverage also has a deductible. It provides coverage if you are in an accident. Again, the higher the deductible, the lower the premium will be.

When you contact different insurance companies always specify the same type of coverage for each. Each company will typically have several different levels of coverage to choose from, so pick one that is similar to others you have received quotes for. When comparing costs consider the bottom line price of each policy but also take into consideration the reputation of each insurer. You want a good deal but you also want a company that will serve your needs well.

Getting Auto Insurance Comparisons - Getting Online Quotes

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are looking for auto insurance comparisons you probably haven't had that much luck. Over time I have gathered some great information finding the best spots to compare auto insurance prices. Take a minute and read a little bit about car insurance and how you can really save money.

So how do you find the cheapest auto insurance. First, I would suggest spending the time to decide what you really need and what you can afford. Do you want full coverage? If your car isn't financed you can opt for basic coverage, which can cost as little as $30 a month. If you are looking to store a vehicle during the winter months you can choose a storage insurance and pay as low as $10 per month. If you are looking for full coverage you can expect to pay about $600 for a six month policy with a good driving record.

Many discounts exist for drivers. First, I would look to add as many family members to your policy as you can. You can often save up to 40% on your premiums by adding at least 4 people to your plan. If you are under the age of 25 your best option is to be added to someone else's plan. Insurance is not cheap for individuals under 25, so try to get all the discounts you can.

Where to look for insurance. Getting auto insurance quotes can often be frustrating for most people. Personally, I don't like dealing with sales people over the phone so I choose to use the Internet to get all my quotes for any type of insurance coverage. This way you can compare prices easily at your speed.

How to Compare Car Insurance Companies

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Obtaining excellent auto coverage that is affordable requires the ability to compare car insurance rates while assessing the quality of the provider in the process. The numbers may seem pretty cut-and-dry but a proper comparison between one company and another involves more than numbers.

Years ago, people shopping for auto coverage policies had to devote a lot of time and energy in the process of making informed decisions. Comparing one company with its competitors involved a plethora of telephone calls or visits to see insurance agents. This time-consuming approach is definitely not the ideal for everyone.

The most effective way to make comparisons between auto insurance providers is to use the Internet as a resource. This valuable research tool is one of the most popular approaches to investigating the different options in policies and their prices. Consumer can expect quick results if they provide a little information to make the process easier.

Compare Car Insurance Companies Online

The World Wide Web opens the door to a world of options and information. Consumers have the luxury of delving deep into the history of an insurance agency with the touch of a button. They can see how long an organization has been in practice and evaluate the heritage that the company has to offer.

Consumers can also make price comparisons. For many drivers, the cost of insuring their vehicle is of the utmost importance. Great coverage does little good if you are not able to afford the policy. The Internet offers various resources for finding quick answers to the question of whether or not you can afford to do business with a certain company and what kind of coverage you can afford.

The process of getting quotes from various companies is quite easy if you use the Internet as a resource. You have the convenience of gathering all of the information that you need in one place and with no footwork. The companies are more than happy to provide a quote to a potential client and this information is the key to your success when you compare car insurance agencies and their policies online.

Compare Car Insurance Quotes and Rates Using These Effective Tips

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You know that you have to be smart when buying auto insurance. You would want to pay as little as possible now and get as much as required in case of an accident. This trade off is not easy to achieve, but this does not mean that the task is impossible. The most important thing that you have to do is to actually compare car insurance quotes in terms of the rates they offer.

Most people think that all they have to do is to look at the prices in an offer or two quickly and make their choice. This is definitely an ineffective approach. The right way to go about this task is to collect as many quotes as possible. It is best if you use a website that allows you to get multiple offers from a range of companies. Then you can compare car insurance quotes and prices effectively.

The rates of the different policy offers are not to be considered on their own - this is the most essential rule. You have to take into account the limits that the insurance company provides. The lower these are the smaller the premium will be. You can readily choose to pay less now, but in case of an accident you might not get as complete coverage as you require. Put more simply, you are likely to pay part of the sum out of your pocket. You would not want this to happen especially if a person has been seriously injured in the accident. So, it is best to choose a quote that has as high limits as you can afford to pay for. You can readily get larger property damage and bodily injury liability coverage and smaller collision or personal injury protection covers.

Generally, you should also compare the types of coverage that you get with each offer. You should decide on the best trade off between the cost and the cover that you get. This is not an easy task, but you have to have a clear idea about your needs and requirements when you compare car insurance quotes. As pointed out earlier you definitely need to have get as much of the coverage which will clear your liabilities to the other parties involved in the accident. However, you do not have to choose other types of covers if you do not think they can be useful to you. At the same time you would also want to protect yourself and your vehicle in case of an accident. So, you should readily consider getting the other types of coverage available. The comprehensive one will protect you financially in case your vehicle is stolen or damaged in an accident other than collision with another vehicle.

When you compare car insurance quotes and rates it is important that you take into consideration the various discounts that you are eligible for. You can reduce the premium you have to pay by more than 20%. Thus, you should definitely not hesitate to choose slightly higher limits and fuller coverage if you can save money by using discounts.

8 Things You Should Know About Auto Insurance

Image : http://www.flickr.com

1. EVALUATE YOUR NEEDS
First off you should decided what type of coverage you are going to need .Your insurance rate has many factors and can be controlled by the amount of coverage you decide to place on your vehicle. By choosing the amount of insurance you are comfortable with you can easily control your premium.
Liability insurance is mandatory in most states. This insures the other person's car and injuries are fixed if you were to get in an accident. The price is set by how far you drive on a daily basis and your driving record.

Collision insurance pays for damages done to you and your vehicle if you are in an accident and it's your fault .These prices will fluctuate depending on the type of car you drive. They will figure in the price of the car, the cost to repair it and how likely it is to get stolen.

Comprehensive insurance is like collision the only difference being that the damages are done by an unknown party or an ""Act of God"" like a hurricane, tornado, flood, fire, theft or vandalism.

2. COMPARE RATES
The more coverage that you seek for your vehicle the higher your premium is going to be but you can save money by shopping around for your insurance. Because of the many different insurance companies competing for your insurance it is possible to save quite a bit of money by getting quotes from several different lenders to see which one offers you the most for your money.

3. ASK FOR DISCOUNTS
Most insurance companies will offer you discounts for several different reasons, be sure that you ask about any discounts you may be entitled to for instance many companies will give you a discount if you are a good driver, good student, or even a senior citizen. Also be sure to ask for discounts on multiple polices with the company and discounts for safe cars.

4. CHANGE YOUR DEDUCTIBLE
The deductible is the amount of money you agree to pay up front before any claims are settled. By accepting to pay a higher deductible in the event of an accident you can lower you premium,
For instance if the repairs to your car cost $2000.00 and you set your deductible to $500 dollars, you must first pay the $500 dollars and they will pay the remaining $1500. By paying a higher deductible you might be responsible for more out of pocket money in the event of an accident but you can greatly reduce your premium on a monthly basis.

5. ASK ABOUT STACKING YOUR INSURANCE CLAIMS
Some states allow you to stack the limits of bodily uninsured motorist rates. Although you may pay a higher Premium for this service in the event of a claim you may be able to double your money received if you were ever injured in an accident. For instance if you own two cars and your coverage on both is $100,000.00 if you choose to stack your insurance in the event of a claim you would receive $200,000.00 for damages. Not all states allow this so make sure to check with your agent if this is an option for you .

6. BEFORE BUYING A NEW CAR CALL YOU INSURANCE COMPANY.
The cost of your premium is determined by the value of your car. The more it will cost to fix your car the higher your insurance will be. Also many companies offer lower rates for safer cars. By getting an insurance quote before you make a new purchase, you will be able to effectively determine if you can afford the car payment plus the premium it will take to cover it.

7. DON'T CANCEL YOU POLICY WITHOUT STARTING YOU NEW ONE FIRST
Many companies will charge you a fine or a higher fee for letting your policy lapse. You can inform your currant company in writing or on the phone on the day that you want to switch coverage, just make sure that you do not cancel your old policy before you start a new contract.

8. CHOOSE YOUR PAYMENT METHOD WISELY

Paying the premium up front every year will insure that you get the best rate, but most companies allow you to make installments at an additional fee. The more you break down your payments the higher you premium will be in the end. If you do not have the money to pay the whole premium up front you could look at paying it in 6 month, or even quarterly to save you a little more money.

Tips For Purchasing Auto Insurance

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Often people find themselves rushed to purchase a car insurance policy. Whether they have recently bought a car or had another reason to find a new policy, people usually do not plan ahead for a new auto insurance policy. Unfortunately, this leads to bad decision making. Here are three tips you can use immediately to find a car insurance policy that is both inexpensive and well-suited to your particular needs.

Tip #1: Carry A Higher Deductible

Your car insurance rates will decrease significantly if you are willing to assume a higher deductible on your policy. For example, if you raise your deductible from $500 to $1,000, you can expect to save an additional 10-15% on your annual car insurance rates. Before deciding to do this, make certain that you have the financial resources to cover the deductible should you need to do so.

Tip #2: Compare Rates Across Multiple Carriers

The cost for the same car insurance policy with the same specifics like deductible, types and amounts of coverage across multiple insurance carriers can vary substantially. Shop around. Often, you can uncover a great low-profile insurance carrier with an excellent credit rating that is willing to offer you significant savings on your policy.

Tip #3: Install A Car Alarm Or Anti Theft System

Often, you can save money on your car insurance rates if you install an anti-theft device. Your rates are largely a result of the perceived risk that a car insurance company assumes in carrying your policy. Installing a car alarm in your vehicle lowers this perceived risk. As a result, your rates may be lowered.

Purchasing car insurance does not need to be an overwhelming chore. By knowing what to look for, what to avoid and simply planning ahead, you can easily find an inexpensive car insurance policy that is suited to your personal needs.

How to Compare Auto Insurance to Get the Best Price

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It's amazing how much auto insurance prices differ from one company to the next. You could save hundreds of dollars a year by spending just a few minutes shopping rates. Here's how to compare auto insurance policies to get the best price.

Understand Coverages

Understand the basic coverages so you know what you need:

* Liability coverage - This pays the medical bills and lost wages for people you hurt in an accident, and pays to repair or replace their car(s).

* Collision coverage - This pays to repair or replace your car after it's been damaged in an accident.

* Comprehensive coverage - This pays to repair or replace your car after it's been damaged by fire, vandalism, or acts or nature.

* Personal injury protection - This pays for your and your passenger's medical expenses when you're involved in an accident.

* Uninsured motorist coverage - This pays to repair or replace your car after it's been hit by an uninsured, underinsured, or hit-and-run driver.

Go Online

A few years ago the only option you had for shopping auto insurance rates was to call or visit one agency after another, and fill out form after form to get enough quotes to compare.

Now, thanks to the Internet and the advent of insurance comparison websites, you can go to one site, fill out one simple form, and get multiple quotes from A-rated companies. These sites are free to use, and you won't have to contend with an agent trying to sell you his or her company's policy.

On the best comparison sites you can even talk with an insurance expert who can answer any question you may have and help you get the best policy for your needs at the best price. (See link below.)

Compare Prices

After you receive your quotes, you need to compare prices. Make sure you're comparing apples to apples by checking to see that the policies you're comparing have the same types of coverage, and the same amount of coverage.

Raise Your Deductible

The deductible is what you pay toward a claim before your insurer will pay. The higher the deductible, the lower your premium. For example, raising your deductible from $250 to $1,000 could cut your premium in half.

Ask For Discounts

Auto insurance companies offer a variety of discounts - security and safety feature discounts, multiple policy discounts, safe driver discounts, low mileage discounts, senior discounts, etc. Ask your insurer what discounts you're eligible for and include them in your policy.

What Can Affect Your Rate?

It doesn't matter what type of insurance you plan to attain, your going to have to consider the many factors that can affect your rate. A large factor that determines your rate is your location. Some locations file more claims than others, and insurance companies are well aware of this. This rule applies to any type of insurance, including car, health, or even pets!

Another factor is your personal claim history. This is a huge factor and many people are affected by it. For example, someone who has a few accidents on their driving record, recent or not, will usually have a much harder time finding a good rate on their car insurance. If they are at a large risk they may have a hard time finding a company to insure them at all! People looking to lower their car insurance rates have many options available to them. Car insurance companies like to see individuals who have graduated from some type of driving school. They also like to see the purchase of a safe car, with airbags, seat belts, and anti-theft devices.

Always Compare Insurance Rates!

The best thing you can do that can affect your insurance rate to choose your insurance company wisely. Not all companies are created equal, and some are much more expensive than others. Each company has it's own system of determining risk factors and therefore your overall price. Companies also have different packages to choose from, with different levels of coverage. Be sure to let your insurance company know what needs you require to find out which plan works best for you and your situation. Shopping around for rates is by far the best way you can get the best rate, so get out there and take notes so you can jot down the pros and cons of each company. Only then will you be able to make the best decision for you and your needs.

An easy way to compare insurance companies is online. Major insurance companies usually have a website that give you free online quotes. It can be as simple as entering in your name, your social, and a few personal questions. Usually you will get an estimate immediately. Eventually you will get a call from a qualified agent who has reviewed your information and can give you a more exact estimate. This is a great way to compare rates. You don't need to travel, you can compare rates in your underwear and insurance companies will be competing for your business. You can't be that!
